“Education is mostly about institutions and getting tickets stamped; learning is what we do for ourselves. When we're lucky, they go together. If I had to choose, I'd take learning.”

How can this claim to be "lively and entertaining" when I fell asleep and fell asleep and cursed this book over and over again? Maybe it's just because it was like reading my own thoughts on paper because I knew almost all of it, minus all the literary references? Who knows, but I'm done with it for school and couldn't be happier (I think I actually danced for joy and victory when I finished it at the airport coming home). I think my main issue with it was that Foster tried to be extremely 'approachable' in his writing and often tried to be funny, and yes I appreciated the effort, but I would have preferred just the straight information rather than having to work around what he thought was comedy and interesting dialogue. Didn't really learn anything and fell asleep about a dozen times. Sorry. Share your thoughts!
