“For once, I'll be proud to be in the shadows.”

This book...hmm, I have several different feelings about it. I think it had a very slow start, and like many other readers I didn't really get into it until about page 150, but the rest was jam packed and interesting. However, I thought that the writing could use some work, and maybe that's just my own preference to not have a 'teenager' voice controlling the writing (yes, I understand that the protagonist is a teenager, but I dislike the 'Awesome. Great.' and other snippy, stupid comments except for very rare times). The characters were interesting and I think that the overall story was very intriguing and kept me hooked, especially with such a strong grounding in science and chemistry, one of my favorite subjects. I'm not really sure if I'll be reading the rest of this series both because of the writing issues I have with this book and the small things I really didn't like, such as the author's continuous slut shaming and debilitating remarks on certain people/things, but this also could just be me being oversensitive. But who knows, the science of this series may keep me hooked!
